48 Blocks Atlantic City, a Celebration of Creativity and a City

48 Blocks AC is a celebration of Atlantic City's history, diverse culture, artistic talents, and creativity.

Atlantic City, NJ

January 25, 2018

For 48 hours in June, more than 48 artists and performers will create, entertain, and engage people across the 48 blocks that make up Atlantic City, NJ.

The 48 Blocks AC festival is a celebration of all that Atlantic City has to offer: a rich history, vibrant communities, and diverse cultures.  For the weekend of June 22-24, 2018, Atlantic City will present over 48 creative projects that are intended to demonstrate the wealth of talent found in the City and to use this creative flow to help bring a greater sense of community to the neighborhoods of the city. Atlantic City Mayor Frank Gilliam stated “We want people to recognize our unique neighborhoods as they do SoHo in New York or Old City in Philadelphia.”

Atlantic City is far more than the boardwalk and casinos.  It has a creative pulse driven by the people, history, and artistic vibe. The 48 Blocks AC mission is to strengthen Atlantic City and its neighborhoods by having people come together to share their creativity and talents.  Joyce Hagen, Executive Director of the Atlantic City Arts Foundation, confirms, “The creation of 48 Blocks AC is a citizen-driven process.  We are excited by the number of city and regional residents who are volunteering their time and talents to help us plan this celebration of creativity and culture in Atlantic City.”

Stockton University is again partnering with the ACAF to present 48 Blocks AC.  According to Lisa Honaker, Dean of Stockton’s School of Arts and Humanities, this partnership is “consistent with the university’s mission and its commitment to Atlantic City.  We recognize that fostering and promoting AC’s creativity is integral to the city’s civic well-being and positive vision of itself going forward.”
