CALL FOR ARTISTS - 48 Blocks AC 2019 - Adirondack chair Application

We are currently seeking artists to paint, sculpt or otherwise create artistic Adirondack chairs, which will be placed on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
48 Blocks Atlantic City is a 48 hour celebration of the artistic talents, creativity, community, culture, and history of Atlantic City. The 2019 event will take place June 21 - June 23, 2019, with 48 community-produced projects across the 48 blocks of the city.
Our program goals are to increase public access to art, give artistic talent a platform in Atlantic City, and engage the community through the event planning process.
48 Blocks AC is a program of the Atlantic City Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public access to art and fostering community art education in Atlantic City. The program is produced in partnership with Stockton University.
In 2019, we will be provided with 12 Adirondack chairs courtesy of the Special Improvement Division of the CRDA for artists to paint, sculpt or otherwise create an artistic chair.
Materials & Stipend:
48 Blocks AC will reimburse artists for materials/tools costs within a pre-approved budget.
48 Blocks AC will provide artists with a $300 artist stipend.
CRDA will weatherproof completed chairs before placement on the Boardwalk.
Application Guidelines & Deadline:
Application materials must be received no later than five o’clock in the evening (5:00 p.m.) EST on April 7, 2019.

Applications are open to any artists who abide by the program guidelines
Artists may apply as an individual or group; however the budget & stipend provided is per mural, not per person.
Submissions will be reviewed by the 48 Blocks AC Leadership Team. Selected applicants will be notified no later than April 15, 2019.
Applications will be reviewed on (including but not limited to) the following criteria:
Appropriateness of qualifications for the project - applicants having experience working in the proposed medium
Potential for artist’s work to enrich Atlantic City
Probability of successful execution and completion of project within the proposed time-frame
Completeness of application
Adirondack chairs will be available for pick-up in Atlantic City sometime in mid-April, and will need to be returned approximately 2 weeks prior to the event (June 21). Exact dates/times will be determined by the SID of CRDA, and will be confirmed with selected applicants.
Selected artists will be required to sign and comply with the Artist Agreement.
Chairs must be able to withstand outdoor conditions & active use on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Chairs must retain full usability as a seat.
The artist must be able to keep the content of their work “family friendly,” no nudity or overtly sexual themes, hate speech or glorification of violence. The artist will be asked to refrain from painting anything that defames or invades the rights of any person, living or dead; or anything that could be construed as harmful to a third party.
The artist may not reproduce any copyrighted material.

There is no limit to the times you may apply; participants will not be selected for multiple projects.
